The Williamson County Symphony Orchestra (WCSO) is a professional-level orchestra that brings the joy of good music to everyone in the Williamson County area and beyond. Founded in 2003, the orchestra has been performing nine free concerts each season, giving eight concerts in Williamson County and one in Fort Hood for troops and their families during Christmas. The orchestra is composed of 45 musicians, both adult non-professional musicians and talented students, and is directed by M L Daniels, the designated resident composer. The orchestra's inaugural concert season was a success, and it has since established itself as a viable organization to bring beautiful music to communities across Williamson County. Being part of the orchestra motivates people and provides the opportunity to play in a professional-level orchestra without having to leave their day jobs.
This month, the WCSO will kick off its 15th season with two free concerts for the whole family called “Great Orchestral Movie Themes” in Cedar Park. Under the direction of Rainey, twenty-four practices were held to ensure that the board of directors could launch the WCSO's inaugural concert season in the spring of 2003. Secretary Sara Manning did an invaluable service by keeping all participating musicians informed about the Orchestra's activities during the fall, as new musicians joined. Rainey programmed the concert with the best pieces that the orchestra had performed in its first three years of concerts. The WCSO invites everyone to come and enjoy their outdoor concert for the whole family. With its mission to bring joyous music to everyone, this orchestra is sure to be a great experience for all.
